Where you fit in:

This role will be in General Commercial Team, which provided legal support globally, as a part of the Central Legal Services (CLS) team, which is be based in Shell Business Operations (SBO) Centre in Krakow (Poland).

The role:

The successful candidate will work alongside other lawyers and paralegals based in the team to support a wide variety of general legal matters for various businesses, primarily in US. This role will in focus on legal support on downstream business.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Act as a lead business lawyer on a portfolio of downstream mobility businesses with focus on advertising U.S. Mobility and Lubricants businesses

  • Identify and mitigate broad range of legal risks including regulatory, data privacy and IP/copyright issues.

  • Advise on digital terms and conditions related to a growing portfolio of digitally enabled consumer and business offerings.

  • Advise on direct marketing, social media campaigns, influencer marketing, mobile applications and product warranties for Mobility and Lubricants in the US.

  • Review marketing and advertising related legal materials such as contest and sweepstakes rules, testimonials, consumer loyalty programs, charitable solicitations, sustainability marketing.

  • Review and advise on advertising materials including sustainable marketing.

  • Draft, review and advise on legal contractual risks associated with marketing businesses, such as direct sales, incentives and promotions, and sponsorships.

  • Review and implement Shell required clauses in third party contracts.

  • Assist in creation and updating of training materials for business, short legal guidance notes or FAQs.

  • Lead legal initiatives and improvement funnel projects to enable and drive supply-led legal support.

  • Coach and support others (e.g. more junior lawyers and paralegals) and takes responsibility for doing so.

This role requires:

  • Fluent and proficient English speaking and writing skills.

  • Law degree and license to provide legal services in the jurisdiction where physically located (if applicable).

  • Minimum 6-10 years legal experience, preferably in a regional or global role

  • A professional, fast-learning and enthusiastic lawyer with an ability to advise on a wide variety of commercial matters and is keen in developing experience working in a global role that is exposed to multiple businesses.

  • Ability to work as a part of the team and support other team members.

  • Ability to ensure that documents accurately reflect the commercial decisions, at all times consistent with legal obligations and Shell’s requirements.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage issues independently.

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering commercially pragmatic and business value-adding legal advice.
